<p>Being vegan does not automatically make you malnourished- I hate it when people say that. Not being aware of what you eat will make you malnourished or unhealthy. There are plenty of meat eaters out there that are unhealthy and are not getting the levels of nutrition that they need. With that being said, you need to eat a variety of fresh fruits&#038; veggies, nuts, seeds and legumes to maintain health as a vegan. Avocados, nuts, flaxseeds, hempseeds, and chia seeds are really good for your brain. You need B12 for brain function. <a href="http://blog2.carrotloves.com/vegans">Vegans</a> do not get B12 because b12 only comes from animals or dairy- the good news is that your body needs a very small amount of b12. THis can come from nutritional yeast or supplements.  Meat has a high concentration of Iron, but if you eat dark greens like spinach and kale and seaweed-you will have nothing to worry about. I have been veg for 7 years and i have never been anemic. Meat is high in protein, but you can get protein from legumes ( lentils are awesome, cheap, and easy), nuts, seeds, and protein is present in a majority of other veggies and fruits like avos. If you feel you need more protein- then supplement- get some raw ground hemp seeds and put them in smoothies. If possible shop at farmers markets so that you get the most nutrition out of your produce and also save $$.This is a link to a website that I get alot of good stuff from( nuts, seeds, legumes, etc...)- at decent prices:<br />
